Our Story
On acquiring Hawker Siddeley from British based FKI plc in 2002, someone asked me what qualifications we had to imagine that we would make a success story of the company out of the fragile state it was in then. It was a sobering question, and I recall mumbling something to the effect that we would put together a winning team, that we had turn-around experience and most importantly that we regarded ourselves as entrepreneurs. With hind sight all this has turned out to be true, but what most inspires me is our team’s entrepreneurial spirit that has made the near impossible, possible.

Bob Reiss et al, (2000) in Low-Risk, High-Reward: Starting and Growing a Business With Minimal Risk, describes entrepreneurship as "… the recognition and pursuit of opportunity without regard to the resources you currently control, with confidence that you can succeed, with the flexibility to change course as necessary, and with the will to rebound from setbacks." Bob was right!

Hawker Siddeley is once again Africa’s supreme manufacturer of Miniature Substations, and Power and Distribution Transformers. We have, over the years, successfully embraced and implemented the process of ongoing improvement to engineering excellence, product quality, responsive quotations and customer value creation.
